This was one of those "how can I tame this shit?" patches. It evolves pretty nicely. I feel I tamed it just enough for it to get decently out of control within given boundaries.
The "jelleestone" referred to in the title was a very low-quality low-creativity hip hop group with a one-hit-wonder single who opened for Bif Naked when I was in university. Nobody wanted to see them, but nobody booed (cos urban Canada). Nobody really applauded or danced either, though. The group really wanted to play their hit single as an encore, though, so after they played a bunch of songs no one had any interest for, they went backstage for just over a minute and came back out to play their hit single to an extremely lukewarm reception.
In contrast, many years later I saw The Bug open for Nine Inch Nails in Kelowna BC. Kelowna is known for being full of shitheads, and those shitheads actively booed through the set because they weren't familiar with The Bug or that style of music. Only a few people other than myself seemed famiilar with The Bug or happy to see that kind of opener, and despite our best efforts to enjoy the show the roiling distemper of the greater crowd made it difficult.
I, for my part, was blown away by their set, and they performed brilliantly despite an aggressively negative reception, and closed out their performance with Warrior Queen having an orgasm on stage. Classy as hell.
Between The Bug and NIN, a drunk shitheel ran in and out of the bathrooms, through the smoking area, and all around the venue yelling "The Bug SUCKS!!!" Too much beer too early in the evening, I guess.
There's no accounting for taste, I suppose, but there certainly is accounting for politeness.
